Few Australian artists are left who can say they were genuinely forged in fire. Rapper and hip-hop artist, Matt Colwell aka 360, is one of them and he will be bringing that bright flame to the Hordern Pavilion on Friday, September 5.
Hailing from Melbourne’s outer suburbs of Ringwood, Colwell began his rapping career early at the age of 14, literally minutes after his voice broke. His meteoric rise to infamy was helped by the release of Mamma Mia – an ode of love dedicated to Home and Away star and Women’s Weekly favourite, Bec Hewitt (the track takes the literal piss out of Hewitt’s husband, Lleyton and deserves attention even today).
Three albums, two ARIAS, and a month in self-imposed rehab later,
360 is back on the road to promoting his latest studio album Utopia. Released in June, the album peaked at number two on the Australian charts and heralds a strong return to form for a man who was always destined for big things. Taking a time out may have been about saving his life but it’s clearly helped hone a raw talent into a more mature sound. This will be a one night only performance and tickets will no doubt sell out fast so be sure to get in early.
360, supported by Hopsin, PEZ, Miracle, Lunar C and Gossling will perform at the Hordern Pavilion on Friday, September 5.
